Elk Flat Trailhead

June 2020

Five WMHCTA volunteers camped at the Elk Flats trailhead above the Wenaha River for three days, clearing 8 miles of trail of down trees and brush. Unfortunately, one 40″ monster ponderosa pine, solid enough to require cutting, but too rotten to wedge, defied their efforts. Where’s the dynamite? Two sharp-eyed folks, while brushing, pulled some small Himalayan blackberry bushes. Hopefully their foresight will prevent this area from becoming another Dug Creek.
