Boner Flat #1

August 3-8, 2022

Six volunteers kicked off August with views from the beautiful, breezy, flower-studded meadows of Boner Flat. First, though, they had to saw through some logs to get there.

Two volunteers on horseback packed the gear in to a campsite on the Middle Fork Imnaha, while the rest hiked in. There they stayed for a few days, clearing a total of 128 logs from Boner Flat Trail. They also found the time to put up a cairn, post and new signs at the junction with the North Fork Trail, and more signs where Boner Flat Trail crosses the Middle Fork to head up to Boner Flat proper. That done, they hiked up and across Boner Flat to camp a night on the South Fork Imnaha. They cleared 31 more logs from the trail on top of the Flat, and created two water bars to stop runoff from washing out the trail tread.

As they headed back to the trailhead on the final day, they stopped to clear five freshly fallen trees from the South Fork Imnaha Trail. A big thanks to these unstoppable volunteers!
