Trails: Deadman Trail #1869
Itinerary: This trip will leave from The Deadman Canyon TH, located just outside of Fish Lake off of FS 66 in the Southeastern Wallowas. Clearing trees as we go, we will camp in the Sugarloaf area and work down the Deadman trail. Work will take place between the TH and camp area, then working down the Deadman trail as it descends toward the Upper Imnaha River. This trip will include chainsaws outside the wilderness boundary and crosscuts within.
Bring your own food and water. Trip is eligible for camping per diem.
Gear Packing List: Early summer-hot conditions with periods of intense sun exposure and variable weather.
Crew Leader: Nikki Beachy
Difficulty Rating: Moderate-Strenuous
You should have experience outdoors and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear. This is a remote backcountry project, so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.
Hike: 3/5 Moderate-Strenuous
Project Work: 3/5 Moderate-Strenuous: -- Mostly logout with some brushing.
