Two people standing next to a sign at the trailhead of a national forest, with trees in the background. The man on the left is wearing sunglasses, a gray shirt, and jeans, and holding a pamphlet. The woman on the right is also wearing sunglasses, a gray t-shirt, and green pants, with a gray jacket tied around her waist. They are holding a rope attached to the sign that reads 'WMMCTA Trail Ambassador.'

Trail Ambassadors

Is it tough getting out to work on the trails?  We have another type of work that is easier to fit into your schedule.

Volunteer to be a Trail Ambassador at one of 5 well-used trailheads in Wallowa, Union, and Baker Counties.

Trail Ambassadors help people find the trail they want to hike, ensure everyone fills out a permit, provide information on known trail conditions, have friendly and brief conversations about human and dog waste, point out the rules for camping and fires, and collect information on trail conditions from returning hikers.
