Trails: Minam River Trail #1673, Granite Gulch Trail #1676
Trail Map: Minam River/Granite Gulch Trail Project
Itinerary: UPDATED FROM GRANITE GULCH PROJECT: We plan to work on the section from Minam Lake to Trail Creek on Wednesday the 29th as we hike in, making it passable. Hopefully, we will finish this section on the last day (Sunday the 2nd) as we hike out. The middle 3 work days will focus on the section from Trail Creek to Elk Creek, with possible work on the Granite Gulch trail if time permits. This project has stock support and a base camp.
Bring your own food and ability to filter water.
Gear Packing List: Early summer-hot conditions with periods of intense sun exposure and variable weather.
Crew Leader: Mike Hansen
Difficulty Rating: Moderate-Strenuous
You should have experience outdoors and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear. This is a remote backcountry project, so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.
Hike: 3/5 Difficult-Strenuous: Hiking is done over all types of terrain along a multi-day trip.
Project Work: 2/5 Moderate: Brushing, crosscut, chainsaw, and tread work.
Possible Hazards: Creek Crossings
