Trails: Blue Creek Trail #1875

Itinerary: This trip will leave from the Deadman TH, backpacking to the Sugarloaf Trail Junction, then log/brush west to Blue Creek Trail Junction (approximately 4.0 miles), and then down to the Imnaha River Trail Junction (4.3 miles); these sections were also somewhat recently cleared, expecting 4 working days total.
Directions: USFS Deadman Trailhead Information
Meet at 9:00 am at the Deadman TH. From Halfway, Oregon travel north on the Cornucopia Highway to the Fish Lake Road and take a right; On the Fish Lake Road go 3.5 miles to the Clear Creek Road and turn left; Travel 16.5 miles on the Clear Creek Road (becomes Forest Road 66) and past the Fish Lake Campground road turnoff to Forest Road 410; Turn left on Forest Road 410 and go about 0.3 miles to the end of this road. The trailhead has upper and lower parking areas.
To get to Halfway from Baker City, Oregon travel north on Interstate 84 for about 1.5 miles and turn east on State Highway 86 and travel 54 miles to Halfway.
From Enterprise, Oregon travel south on Oregon State 82 towards Joseph for about 6.5 miles; In Joseph turn left on Oregon State 350 and go about 8 miles to the Wallowa Loop Road; Turn right on the Wallowa Loop Road (also known as the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway) and travel on this road which eventually becomes Forest Road 39 for 40 miles to Forest Road 66; Turn right on Forest Road 66 and go about 13 miles to the Fish Lake campground entrance on the right side of the road.
Bring your own food and water. Trip is eligible for camping per diem.

You should have experience outdoors and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear. This is a remote backcountry project, so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.

Project Work: 3/5 Moderate-Strenuous: -- Mostly logout with some brushing.
