Trail Map: Upper Imnaha Trail #1816 Trail Project (if the QR code has expired, download the .pdf)

Itinerary: This great spring hike or horseback trip is stock-supported and will leave from Indian Crossing TH/Campground located at the end of the Upper Imnaha River Road. Meet at the Wallowa Resources Building (401 N First St. Enterprise, OR).

If you are coming from the North (Wallowa County), do not take the Wallowa Mountain Rd. 39, but instead take the Upper Imnaha River Rd #3955, leaving from the town of Imnaha, going South, then turning at FS road 3960 toward Indian Crossing Campground/TH. If you are coming from the South (Baker County), take the 39 Wallowa Mountain Rd to Road 3960, turning left toward the campgrounds to the end at Indian Crossing Campground & TH.

‍ ‍ We will ride and hike, clearing trees as we go, and camping at the Forks of the Imnaha River (See map below). We will work toward the Lick Creek Trail, and up the N. Fork Imnaha if able. Stock support can carry personal gear for hikers with a 35 lb. pack limit maximum.

Bring your own food and water. Trip is eligible for camping per diem.

Gear Packing List:  Late Winter- Spring conditions with periods of intense sun exposure and cold conditions.

Crew Leader: Lantz Hughes

Difficulty Rating: Strenuous

You should have experience outdoors and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear. This is a remote backcountry project, so injuries such as sprains and blisters or even extreme fatigue from not being properly conditioned can quickly become a big safety issue.

Hike: 4/5 Moderate-Strenuous

Project Work: 3/5 Moderate-Strenuous: -- Mostly logout with some brushing.
